2 teams of 4 quarters each. Not sure of the location of the ground but is in the local area.
Start at 12 (reserves), 2pm for seniors.

Smell of a new season is in the air. I have put together the program for March, however as soon as we are given the go ahead by council and the cricket club then we will move to Keeley Park. As soon as I know I will update you so at the moment Namatjira but if you turn up and there is no-one there then we are most likely back at Keeley!!

Some things to ponder as we move towards Round 1:
Over using the football- we want to start thinking about going long to a leading forward especially as we start to cross the centre line
kicking for goals
Talk. Gotta communicate better. We also have to listen and back other players judgement.
Quicker movement of the football. At times we were slow to get back off the mark and kick to a player in space
Players working hard to find an opponent especially after a turn over
zoning in behind the football
forwards need to push up when they see the opposition zoning back behind the play and not being manned up
putting our set play strategies into practice and then ‘feeling’ your opponent whilst watching the ball
blocking and shepherding team mates, blocking opponents from running through

March Pre-Season Program (Document)

Tonight: Beep Test- Johnny Hong especially asked for this (Seriously)- brought a tear to my eye to finally see I was getting through to someone…..
Those that miss out will still have an opportunity to do it on Thursday.
Remember this is about personal bests and showing improvement, this will gauge where you are at.
 
Afterwards- ball work and set plays. Make sure you get to training and practice and implement aspects of our team plan.
 
So far I have three guys playing football against BHN- nice to see a few more emails letting me know of your availability. These things don’t just happen….
 
Details for subs: Remember $250 pre first game and the chance to choose your number- see Tri or Joe.
If you are experiencing financial difficulties then it is essential you talk to Tri.
 
When you put money into the account make sure you put your name next to the details so that we can ‘track’ where the payment is from as well as keep a record of the transaction details. Send Tri an email on  tri@xtreemtc.com.au to let him know you have put money into the account (apparently he also loves spam ).

Training this Tuesday (26th) is at the Botanical Gardens, meeting on the Corner of Alexander Avenue and the famous Anderson Street. Time 8:00 AM. There will be no training at Namatjira that afternoon. Session 5 will be back at Namatjira on Thursday.

Big thank you to Longy who has put together the indoor tournament. Attached are the teams and tournament schedule. Players who still would like to play notify me.

Subs for 2010 season is $250 early bird. Players paying after Round 1 will be asked to pay $300. Direct debit is available, see Joe Ngo or Tri Thoi.

Pre Season Camp starts Friday 19th February through to Sunday 21st. RSVP is essential ASAP so we can begin booking camp sites (email to garrett.justin.j@edumail.vic.gov.au). On the saturday we plan on having an INTRA CLUB match. Camp is $50 payment can now be made to one of the coaches.

Michael Stone sizzled with a new club record on the Beep Test (13.5) and with 40 guys in attendance was an excellent platform to start the season. In addition there were a number of players who outperformed their results from this time last year (Razor, Joe, JP, Collin, Johnny Hong, Lawson, Phanga, Raz, and Johnson), although each should be congratulated for their approach to the test.

There are still a number of guys yet to show and selection WILL be based on attendence and payment of subs.

I will run another Beep Test next week for those that missed out- please note this is compulsory and players must do a minimum of two prior to the season starting- it is essential that players are able to set targets and goals for fitness this year!

I need to start making bookings for the preseason camp and need RSVP immediately so I can reserve camp sites, organise groups, cater etc..- cost is likely to be around $50 -60 which will include some meals and camping- schedule will come out next week. Email to garrett.justin.j@edumail.vic.gov.au

I need an indication from players quickly if you are attending. Deposits and Catering needs to be organised. The Port Arlington Seaside Resort has limited sites available- we are hoping to book 10 next to each other and will need to get onto it quickly.

In addition, can you indicate if you have a tent and how many can sleep comfortably in the tent. Also required are bikes and body boards- let me know if you can bring any of these articles. garrett.justin.j@edumail.vic.gov.au

This should be an awesome weekend with planning well and truly underway. Only 100 k’s from the city on the beach, pub and town nearby and football oval and tennis courts within metres of the park. If you know someone who isn’t receiving emails can you please send me their email address as well as passing on this information.

Players will be required to do at least two beep tests before the season starts (6 minimum otherwise you are morbidly obese!). One of these will be held sometime in the first three sessions.

Christmas Break Training

Last and week was an awesome week for the guys that turned up. More new recruits and a few old one’s returning to the fold. Great to see the effort from players during ball and skill work, games, drills and fitness exercises. There have been over 40 players make it to training over the last few weeks but would love to see a few more. Up to you guys to make it huge year.

Training schedule for the next couple of sessions in the lead up to christmas. Also keep an eye out for a comittee meeting.
